Full Job Description

A very exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an Associate Nurse Consultant to join our award winning First Response Service.

The post holder will provide advanced clinical assessment and support to the team providing high quality interventions to patients of Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Trust.

The Associate Nurse Consultant will work in partnership with the existing clinical leadership team of psychiatrists and a nurse consultant.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse with a non-medical prescribing qualification and extensive clinical skills and knowledge of delivering care in front line mental health services.

The ideal candidate needs to be able to deliver high quality, compassionate care to individuals in crisis as well as assisting and liaising with the wider team and partner agencies.

The post holder will also assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of a high quality, effective service to patients in crisis.

As an associate nurse consultant you will be expected to provide clinical leadership and direction in the provision of excellent mental health assessment and treatment., The First Response Service provides 24 hour access to mental health services for people who identify, or have been identified as being in a mental health crisis. It is an all age service.

Support is provided initially over the phone by Psychological Wellbeing Telecoaches, who are trained in the process of mental health triage and who will attempt to de-escalate the individual's crisis over the phone and formulate a safety plan for that individual.

Dependent on the risk and need identified, a face to face assessment can be arranged and carried out by a Mental Health First Responders. The team is overseen each shift by a Clinical Lead. The outcome of the telephone triage or face to face assessment is that the patient will be supported, given advice, referred to appropriate services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times.
