Full Job Description

This role will involve supporting the Senior Finance Business Partners for the three business groups to help improve all aspects of financial management. This is an opportunity to work within the business-facing, commercial part of the finance team.,

  • Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner for the BSG. Working for the SFBPs to drive financial performance and provide strategic support in the Firm.

  • Provide analysis into key aspects of performance as determined by the SFBPs.

  • Develop and provide analysis on key issues and KPIs for the SFBPs.

  • Provide analysis of client performance for both individual clients and groupings of clients

  • Assist in developing materials and provide some training to improve financial awareness amongst Fee Earners.

  • Support the SFBPs in maintaining hourly, PQE, client and matter specific rates, and ensuring all are accurate and up to date.

  • Own various accounting processes such as calculation of volume rebates, calculation of consultants' commission, calculation of some deferred revenue.

  • Play a key role in the completion of the WIP review exercise through chasing of fee earners and associated write off requirements.

  • Support on various aspects of pricing by providing analysis and using and developing pricing tools.

  • Liaise with credit control to manage debt and provide support to promote best practice across the Firm.

  • Liaise with the wider finance team to manage WIP, disbursement and client balances and provide support to promote best practice across the Firm.

  • Support in the budget setting process by producing analysis

  • Support on strategic growth opportunities, including assisting on creating business cases for lateral hires and potential acquisitions/mergers.

  • Through liaison with the wider Finance team and embedded business group support, ensure day to day operational activities progress smoothly.

    Qualified Accountant - CIMA, ACA or ACCA

  • Good IT skills; preferably Excel (or alternative reporting tools)

  • Management reporting - experience to be demonstrated of working with management information and KPIs

  • Management accounting - good technical competence

  • Team player - ability to develop strong relationships with the SFBPs

  • Client service focus - understanding of internal and external clients' needs

  • Tenacious and determined

  • Communicator - can clearly and succinctly communicate

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Familiarity of KPIs, costing, pricing models

  • Ability to explain financial concepts to a non-financial audience
