Full Job Description

As the Test Manager for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations at South Pole, you will lead the quality assurance efforts to ensure the effective utilization of Dynamics 365 Project Operations in managing project-based business activities. You will be a key member of the Enterprise Technology team, reporting to the Associate Director of Enterprise Applications. Your role will involve overseeing a team of specialists responsible for maintaining, supporting, and developing project operations applications, while also establishing and managing a focused technical training capability.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive testing strategies and methodologies to validate the functionality, usability, performance, and security of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations.

  • Define test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria to ensure thorough coverage of business requirements and user scenarios.

  • Conduct manual and automated testing of project operations applications, including functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.

  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues promptly.

  • Lead and mentor a team of specialists responsible for testing, support, and development within the project operations applications domain.

  • Define roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for team members to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the testing team.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

  • + Collaborate closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and priorities.
    + Communicate test findings, progress, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
    + Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions and gather feedback to drive improvements in project operations applications.
  • Process Improvement and Compliance:

  • + Identify opportunities to optimize testing processes, tools, and frameworks to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    + Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and data security policies in testing activities.
  • Technical Training Capability:

  • + Establish and manage a technical training program to enhance the skills and capabilities of team members in project operations applications.
    + Develop training materials, conduct workshops, and provide ongoing support to promote knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Continuous Monitoring and Reporting:

  • + Monitor system performance and stability post-implementation, conducting periodic audits and assessments to ensure ongoing quality and reliability.
    + Prepare and present regular reports on testing progress, key metrics, and areas for improvement to senior management.

    Essential -
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance, with a focus on enterprise applications, ideally including Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP/CRM systems.

  • Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing testing teams and driving quality assurance initiatives.

  • In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, with hands-on experience in test planning, execution, and reporting.

  • Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG) and scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, PowerShell) is highly desirable.

  • Understanding of project-based business processes, including project management, resource planning, budgeting, and billing within an ERP environment.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations or similar project management solutions is a strong advantage.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of testing specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex requirements, identify testing gaps, and troubleshoot issues effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities to address technical challenges and optimize testing processes.

  • Agile mindset with experience working in iterative development environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development, keeping abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB certification) is a plus.

  • Team Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, project managers, and end-users.

  • Experience in stakeholder management, presenting findings, and influencing decisions based on testing outcomes.


  • Desirable -
  • Experience in the climate action/environmental domain, showing an understanding of the complexities and challenges in this area.

  • Experience working in Professional Services and Product-based businesses.

  • Experience in aiding the digital transformation of previous companies' solutions/product catalog.

  • Knowledge of third-party integrations commonly used with Dynamics 365 Project Operations.
