Full Job Description

  • To ensure Production Machinery is maintained & repaired to a high standard to enable maximum production speeds with minimum interruptions and breakdowns.


  • To ensure Maintenance & Service records are maintained


  • To devise, fabricate, and install, improvements to Production Machines.


  • Specific Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance on plant & equipment to a high standardRespond to breakdowns on Production machinesInstall and relocate production equipment


  • Specify & order spare partsComplete maintenance recordsComplete all paperwork required to place orders and book in parts


  • Read Electrical & Mechanical DrawingsCarry out Electrical Fault FindingCarry out basic Mechanical Fault finding


  • Carry out basic Pneumatic/hydraulic Fault FindingRecord work carried out on a daily Time Sheet


  • Liaise with Contractors


  • Liaise with suppliersLiaise with Engineering Companies


  • Liaise with other departmentsHealth & Safety. Responsible for self and othersAssist with Stock Takes


  • Ensure a good working relationship with all Departments


  • Work overtime when required·


  • Performance Indicators

  • Machine Downtime due to breakdowns.


  • Response times to machine breakdowns


  • Effectiveness at diagnosis and repair of plant and equipment

    Recognised Electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ/City & Guilds/BTEC HNC)


  • PC Literate


  • Basic use of Excel


  • Basic use of Word


  • Experience working in a high speed, high pressure production environment


  • Experience within the Printing / Carton Manufacturing Industry desirable


  • Experience working on Heidelberg Sheet Fed Printing Presses desirable


  • Experience working on Manroland Sheet Fed Printing Presses desirable


  • Experience working on Bobst Cut & Crease Machines and Folder Gluers desirable
