Full Job Description

Day to day role responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Produce Electrical Panels by assembling parts and subassemblies.

  • Read and design panel wiring diagrams.

  • Position or align components and parts.

  • Use hand tools to assemble parts.

  • Conduct quality control checks.

  • Clean and maintain work area and equipment, including tools.

  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies.

  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.

  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.

  • Verify specifications by measuring completed component

  • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.

  • Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Maintain inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels.

  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

  • Document actions by completing Time Sheets

    Qualifications include: Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
  • The apprentice will be working towards a Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge) - Product Design & Development Pathway

  • College attendance will be at Colchester Institute Campus and online, Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Patience, Technical English Proficient, Design based qualifications, GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade A-C/9-4) Essential, Location could be considered remote, so access to reliable transport/the ability to drive would be advantageous. Pickups can be arranged from the right location. No shops within walking distance so lunch must be arranged prior to arriving at work. Lastly, the majority of the work will be carried out in our factory based in Cressing, Braintree; but we also have a service department and visits to site to see how some of the machines are serviced and maintained.
