Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Early Years Practitioner with experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly in supporting children with Communication and Interaction, Communication and Language, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) needs to join our team.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing holistic care and support to children with diverse additional needs, fostering their development and well-being within a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Implement individualised care plans and educational strategies tailored to the specific needs of each child, in consultation with relevant professionals and caregivers.

Utilise a range of effective communication techniques and assistive technologies to support children with diverse communication and interaction challenges.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive behavior management techniques and encourages the social and emotional development of all children.

Facilitate sensory-based activities and interventions to support children with sensory processing difficulties, ensuring their comfort and engagement in learning experiences.

Collaborate with external agencies, therapists, and specialists to access additional support and resources for children with complex needs, advocating for their holistic development and well-being.

Maintain accurate records and documentation of each child's progress, achievements, and support strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice standards.

Lead the room of a maximum of 10 children with 1-2 Teaching Assistants (TAs), directing their support and ensuring effective collaboration.

Demonstrate proficiency in the Development Matters Framework, Early Learning Goals, Early Years Assessment, marking, and tracking, as well as understanding the Early Years progression up to Reception age.

Plan and arrange the learning environment and learning interactions, ensuring activities are tailored to meet the individual needs and interests of each child.

Embrace and promote a PACE (Playful, Accepting, Curious, Empathetic) environment, fostering a culture of flexibility, creativity, and inclusivity in learning.

Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.

Experience working within a SEND setting, preferably with a focus on supporting children with Communication and Interaction, Communication and Language, ASC, and ADHD needs.

Sound understanding of best practices and strategies for supporting children with diverse additional needs, including experience with individualized care planning and behavior management techniques.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning, staying informed about current research, legislation, and best practices in the field of SEND education.

Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Pro-rata salary of £22,000 to £24,000 based on experience, working 39 weeks of the year. Holiday pay equivalent to 4 weeks to be taken during school holidays.

Hours: 08:00 am until 16:00 pm, with one day a week until 16:30 pm for whole school meetings.
