Full Job Description

As a Drug and Alcohol Administrator you are responsible for ensuring that Intelligent finger Print and Alcohol Breathalyser
testing is carried out in a professional manner with client need and confidentiality being a high priority. Our client has 14
sites that require our attendance to carry out random testing with all collection of results being captured and returned to the
client within agreed timescales.

It is fundamental to the success of the random testing programme and ultimately to the project itself that a consistent approach
and professional demeanour is upheld at all times.,

  • Liaising with our client to ensure safe and suitable arrangements are made to access construction project sites to carry out

  • the random testing.
  • Taking a lead role in ensuring the smooth running of the random testing.

  • Ensuring that all equipment and consumables are at the correct stock levels on a daily basis to ensure we can carry out the

  • random testing.
  • Collate weekly data analysis of the tests that are carried out and communicate this to the client on monthly basis

  • Attending the agreed project sites across the West Midlands at the times and days as agreed with the client.

  • Undertaking appropriate training and be on 'stand by' as a potential support for the wider D&A testing team, complete paperwork

  • or general duties as required
  • To complete the prerequisite induction process for candidates, including checking their right to work, competency cards, taking

  • photos for ID purposes and issuing ID cards
  • Complete Drug & Alcohol testing as and when required, ensuring all donors are available to attend and that the necessary

  • facilities are available:
  • Ensure relevant information/paperwork is collated ahead of D&A tests, i.e. the type of D&A

  • (Pre-employment/Pre-sponsorship/Review/Random)
  • Ensure the testing area is prepared and secure as per requirements

  • Ensure the accurate completion of the Chain of Custody forms

  • Carry out the tests in line with Chain of Custody rules and procedures.

  • Liaise with OH Nurse conducting medicals to ensure the smooth flow of appointments for clients

  • Thoroughly check laboratory results upon receipt for abnormalities/non-negative results/diluted

  • Ensure all D&A and medical results are uploaded to Sentinel and Balfour Beatty Vinci system

  • Print and store a copy of the medical/D&A certificates

  • Ensure any D&A tests which are returned are re-booked if necessary

  • Confident in the use of telephone and meeting people at all levels on a face-to-face basis to be able to plan and coordinate

  • site visits
  • To communicate and coordinate with colleagues as necessary.

  • To liaise with external stakeholders as and when required to provide excellent customer service.


  • To ensure effective delivery of this role and fully contribute towards team and business objectives, the postholder will need to
    meet the following criteria.

  • GCSE grade C+ (or equivalent) in Maths and English

  • Full, clean UK driving licence

  • Team player, happy to work autonomously and with direction, where appropriate

  • Positive, professional attitude and willingness to deliver excellent service

  • Treat all stakeholders with respect and behave openly and honestly

  • Ability to react positively to change

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, ability to prioritise effectively

  • Good communication and IT skills

  • Creative where needed, with excellent attention to detail

  • Administrative / office experience would be beneficial
