Full Job Description

We have big plans at Gedling Borough Council and we're looking for exceptional individuals who can help us deliver them!, Following a transformative restructuring programme, we are looking to recruit to several senior roles. Focusing on being resident centric, commercially minded, data and performance driven we hope to position ourselves as the best Council in the East Midlands growing an environment where residents enjoy the lifestyle they deserve, in a place they are proud of.

We value experience and talent, but we are lean and have no space for passengers. You will need to be hungry to get stuck into the projects that we have and be a visible presence both within the workplace and the wider community.

As Director of Place you will be a member of our Senior Leadership Team and you will have influence both within the organisation and outwardly across all parts of our borough. You will lead and take ownership for cross-cutting corporate projects and change management initiatives that deliver service and organisational improvements. Through two Assistant Directors you will set the tone and provide leadership support for both the Development Service including all aspects of the planning function, and the Housing, Growth and Regeneration Service. Each service has huge impact in terms of the shaping of our communities not just in terms of the built environment but also the wider social provision.

You might not have heard of Gedling Borough Council. But if you haven't, we would be disappointed, and you really should look at the work that we are doing.

Relevant to this post we are actively and vigorously pursuing our list of ambitious major projects including consideration of how we might best continue to deliver environmental, leisure and community services to ensure that our residents can enjoy good physical and mental health; the continued provision of excellent parks and recreational spaces for local people to enjoy; and the on-going work to ensure that our neighbourhoods are safe, modern, clean, healthy and vibrant places to live and work. The list goes on, but you get the idea.

Gedling is an attractive place to live and work, and the Council offices are situated in an award-winning park within easy reach of Nottingham City Centre and rural Nottinghamshire.
