Full Job Description

The Joint Library of Ophthalmology is a shared resource between Moorfields Eye Hospital. The Library supports their academic and clinical endeavour through access to extensive resources in ophthalmology and vision sciences, modern learning spaces, innovative services and expert staff.

The post holder is responsible for designing and delivering a programme of inductions and information skills sessions for all staff and students at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital. They line manage the Senior Library Assistant and deputise for the Librarian, as required. They support the Librarian in overseeing the delivery of library and information services, including collection development.

This is an internal secondment role, available to current UCL staff only. This is a part time role/0.5fte salary: £21,049 including London Allowance per annum.

We are looking for candidates who in particular have the following experience and skills:

  • A recognised qualification in Librarianship or Information Studies

  • Experience of providing and managing services in a busy library environment, dealing with a wide range of users

  • Experience of planning and delivering information skills training

  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce reports and public documentation in print and on the web
