Full Job Description

  • Assist with cleansing the ILR in preparation for monthly funding submissions, processing starts, completions, BILs and withdrawals in a timely manner.

  • Manage an internal audit schedule, undertaking audits on apprentice learner records, ensuring full compliance with ESFA funding requirements and identifying financial risk.

  • Work with other departments to rectify actions identified during internal audits, aiming for 0% error rate.

  • Compliance check enrolments as apprentices are onboarded.

  • Collect and store additional documents as required.

  • Maintain accurate learner records, managing internal processes for employer transfers and BIL returners.

  • Collate reports using Power BI as required.

  • Maintain expert knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules.

  • Any other duties as required.

    Skills for Security, the leading provider of apprenticeships and training to the Fire and Security sector are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, quality minded and driven Data & MIS Officer with a strong attention to detail on a full-time basis to join our national, OFSTED graded GOOD provider (November 2022) to support the ever growing need to assure quality within our provision.


  • Reporting to the Head of Data & MIS, you will be responsible for supporting the data processes relating to our award-winning apprenticeship delivery. You will be organised and methodical with a strong attention to detail and have demonstratable experience of working within the stipulated requirements of the ESFA and the apprenticeship funding rules, of which you will have comprehensive knowledge, and be able to demonstrate understanding of their application.

    You should be energetic, professional, detail orientated and be able to adapt to and support change. An eagerness to seek knowledge and experiences, provide developmental support to the wider team with the confidence to challenge, where necessary, will underpin a positive approach to your work.

    Above all, this role requires an individual with passion and determination to ensure that the accuracy and quality of organisational data can stand up to internal and external scrutiny.

    Please note that competence in the Fire and Security sector is NOT required for this role however experience of working with a similar role is essential.,
  • Existing knowledge of ESFA Apprenticeship funding rules and ILR requirements.

  • Experience in using MI Systems such as Bud.

  • Strong Microsoft Office IT skills.

  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet set deadlines.

  • Excellent attention to detail, to identify and rectify discrepancies.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work on own initiative and be proactive.

  • Flexible approach to working.

  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively.

  • Ability to work well in a team.

  • Desirable to have existing knowledge of Power BI.

  • GCSE English/maths grade C/4 or above.

    Up to £35K depending on experience.
