Full Job Description

We're looking for an exceptional candidate to join our Prevention Team here at Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service to help deliver our Prevention Priorities.

Working with different communities, educational establishments and other community safety partners, this role is all about ensuring our targeted messages on Fire, Road and Water Safety reach the right people in the right way at the right time!

The role is varied and demanding so you'll need to be great at managing your own time, prioritising workload and organizing others. You will be supporting our Station Managers and firefighters in their work to target education and engagement in their local areas and helping to develop the resources they need. You will also deliver education and youth programmes yourself as part of partnership initiatives in the community to reduce risks and tackle issues.

Our safety messages are targeted at those who may be most at risk, this includes individuals and groups that are seldom heard and with protected characteristics. You will need to be a self-starter, able to reach out and build relationships to help progress new initiatives. You will need experience of delivering education or training to different audiences and to be a champion for equality, diversity and inclusion, embracing difference, building rapport and adapting according to the needs of those you are working with.

The role involves working in schools to deliver education programmes designed to raise awareness of safety and to help divert young people from arson and anti-social behavior. An understanding of issues affecting children and young people is therefore important.

We put the safety and wellbeing of the community at the heart of our work so you'll need to already have an understanding of child and adult safeguarding and be able to recognize and report the signs and symptoms of abuse and harm. We'll provide you with the additional training you need.

We work in different communities across the county however this role will mainly focus on the North Northamptonshire area. There is a requirement to be flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends on a pre-planned timetable of events and projects.

This role will require working from joint Fire and Police buildings and also directly with children and young people and adults at risk; as such, it will require the post holder to undergo a Police vetting process, any offer of a position would be reliant upon a satisfactory clearance to NPPV level 2 and an Enhanced DBS check.
