Full Job Description

Under the direction of the Antisocial Behaviour Manager, the role involves carrying out enforcement operations and community engagement/education projects with the aim of reducing antisocial behaviour, enhancing public protection in Newport.

The role also involves responding to complaints and providing advice/support to residents and businesses on antisocial behaviour reduction.

This is a challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who relishes working in a team environment with a passion for Community Safety.

Being part of a friendly, hardworking and supportive team, you will undertake a range of duties including:

  • To enforce all relevant statutes and regulations relating to antisocial behaviour and public protection as assigned during and outside of normal operating working hours.

  • To undertake interviews in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

  • To undertake proactive patrols on an intelligence led basis with the aim of identifying antisocial behaviour and public protection breaches and gathering community intelligence.

  • To collate data and prepare reports on activities associated with the role.

  • To locate and pick up stray dogs and ensure their transportation to the Council kennel.

    You will be educated to A level standard and demonstrate a good understanding of relevant community safety legislation.


  • Experience of working with the public and liaising with a cross section of both internal and external stakeholders including the use of conflict management.
