Full Job Description

  • Propose and develop (in conjunction with the Head of Procurement) indirect and direct Category/Subcontract strategies, delivering the most economical procurement route for BBV and the Contract.

  • Identify demand and capacity issues within the supply chain and the development of risk mitigation strategies

  • Manage procurement relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders

  • Keep abreast of market developments, demand trends and risks, and ensure that each client's requirements are understood

  • Focus on exceeding minimum service expectations by delivering an agile, value adding service with a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical competence, functional knowledge and process efficiency

  • Establish performance led, long term supplier relationships focusing on value for money, service & product quality and continuous improvement to drive competitive advantage for BBV and our Parent Companies.

    An understanding of legal frameworks and contract law

  • Substantial project procurement management experience within a construction related environment

  • Experience of projects with sub-contractors and suppliers

  • Proven track record within strategic sourcing, managing supplier relationships, negotiation, process compliance, leading complex sourcing activities and supplier integration into project teams

  • Excellent analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement

  • An ability to adopt a pragmatic, yet disciplined approach to process compliance

  • MCIPS qualification or degree or similar equivalent preferred not essential

    Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build 90km West Midlands stretch of HS2 - Britain's new high speed railway. Our work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham as well as continue their journey up to Manchester.     Balfour Beatty VINCI is a long-established joint venture between two powerhouses for the delivery of critical infrastructure across rail, transport and other iconic projects in the UK and beyond. We started working together over 30 years ago to deliver the Channel Tunnel, as members of the TransManche Link consortium. In the Midlands, it is Balfour Beatty VINCI's role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. Our work with HS2 Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and then on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

    Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

  • 62 overbridges


  • 35 cuttings


  • 56 culverts


  • 62 embankments


  • 2 twin bore tunnels and 2 cut and cover tunnels


  • 28 underbridges and 11 underpasses
