Full Job Description

We are delighted to advertise the position of Care Support Worker within our team at the Blanning Dementia Day Centre. The service operates Monday to Friday, working with clients who have memory problems such as dementia.

Our team are friendly, dedicated, and passionate about providing high quality care for our clients. If you have a similar outlook in caring for vulnerable adults, we would be pleased to receive your application. This includes experience gained in a non-formal care setting such as caring for a relative who has a learning disability, dementia, or mental health problems.

Duties include stimulating activities, helping clients on and off our minibus, escorting when transporting them to and from the centre, assisting with the consumption of food and drink, and elements of personal care.

Day Care Support Worker - 19 hours per week (3 out of 5 days per week) Monday to Friday, and these days may vary with notice given on rotas one month in advance.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Pay is at £11.50 per hour, and the same applies for overtime.


  • If you are required to transport clients in your own vehicle we pay at £0.45 per mile, and travel time is paid within contracted or overtime hours. Some other companies can take advantage in this area - we do not!


  • Enrolment is automatic for the People Pension scheme where the trust pays a contribution of 3%, the tax authorities pay 1%, and the employee pays 4% of the gross earnings.


  • Annual leave starts at 22 days plus 8 bank holidays pro rata, rising to 25 days plus 8 bank holidays pro rata after three years of service.


  • Life assurance is set to two times your contracted salary.


  • The trust pays up to £750 for people referred who complete a six month probationary period, and then stay for a further six months.


  • Car parking is free at all our sites.


  • Annual pay increase subject to business performance.


  • Free tea, coffee and milk at the centre.


  • We pay for your DBS check.

  • A DBS check that does not highlight issues preventing you from working with vulnerable adults.


  • A full driving licence.


  • Access to your own vehicle.


  • Business insurance on your vehicle that allows you to take clients home in your car.


  • Compassion for adults with learning disabilities, dementia, and mental health problems.


  • Experience of caring for vulnerable adults, including informal care settings.


  • Willing to work overtime during busy periods to cover annual leave and sickness.
