Full Job Description

As a Beauty Therapist Apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting Vanity Fayre's operations, learning essential skills, and contributing to a positive and welcoming client experience. Your training and hands-on experience will set the foundation for a successful career in the beauty industry.

Day to day activities and tasks:

  • Reception Duties.


  • Taking payments.


  • Booking appointments.


  • Answering the phone.


  • Welcoming clients and offering refreshments.


  • Selling products and gift vouchers.


  • General salon cleanliness.


  • Setting up for treatments.


  • Observing treatments which relate to their current studies.


  • Practicing treatments and gaining knowledge and experience from colleagues.


  • Additional training will include Dermalogica Aspire programme, online and in person courses.

    As an apprentice you will learn the below:

  • Provide waxing services: Consult, plan, prepare and perform waxing services to remove unwanted hair on clients from the legs, underarms, face and bikini line.


  • Provide hand and nail treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform hand and nail treatments on clients.


  • Provide foot treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform foot and nail treatments on clients.


  • Provide facial treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform facial skin care treatments, use facial products and equipment, and improve and maintain skin condition on clients.


  • Provide eyelash and eyebrow treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform enhancements to the appearance of the eyebrows and lashes on clients.


  • Provide make-up application: Consult, plan, prepare and perform make-up services on clients.


  • Provide basic massage treatments: Consult, plan, prepare and perform manual back, neck and shoulder massage treatments on clients., Some aspects of the qualification will be delivered on-site, and you will have regular visits every 6 weeks from your designated assessor from City College Plymouth, who will monitor your progression throughout your apprenticeship.

  • As part of your apprenticeship, you will be expected to attend college one day per week, where you will improve upon your knowledge and practical skills.
    As an additional qualification, City College Plymouth will help you achieve your Health and Safety Certificate.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapist.


  • Functional Skills in Maths and English if required (Level 1)., Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Presentation skills, Administrative skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4 / C) Desired

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4 / C) Desired, You could reduce your training time, or finish your apprenticeship faster, if you have relevant prior learning or experience. This could be relevant:
  • Training. Qualifications, like an NVQ in a relevant field. Industry or sector experience., Beauty therapist

We offer all types of beauty, holistic and skin treatments and aim to be experts in our field. Treatments include: Massage, Waxing, Eyebrows, Shellac and Bio Sculpture nails etc. Jane is still very much part of the team still working as a therapist but leading the team and always making sure we deliver the best treatments and most importantly the best experience. The team are constantly keeping up to date with fast moving trends.'
