Full Job Description

As a process Operator Apprentice, you will work alongside highly skilled and experienced Process Operators and be part of a team at the Dow site that Operates the Production units. The production units range from batch processes to high complex continuous process units. Process Operators carry out field checks on process equipment. Monitors process conditions, key performance metrics, equipment and control systems and makes appropriate decisions to maintain and/or achieve desired rates and conditions aligned with Plant/Site/Business goals.

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations

  • Essential Communication Skills Level 1 (apprentice will be exempt if they have GCSE G or above)

  • Essential Application Skills Level 1 (apprentice will be exempt if they have GCSE G or above)


  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations

    This qualification is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) based on the Performing Manufacturing Operations National Occupational Standards developed by Ingenuity, the Sector Skills Council for the science, engineering, and manufacturing technologies. The qualification is about occupational competence and involves the skills and knowledge needed to be able to carry out a range of activities related to a range of manufacturing operations.

    The qualification has been designed by industry for individuals involved in a manufacturing process whatever the sector. Learners may typically be responsible for the day-to-day running of equipment and for the quality of work. They are also capable of monitoring and controlling equipment and quality, and can also exercise some judgement and decision making about the manufacturing process.

  • You have successfully completed a Supported Internship or Project SEARCH with Dow Silicones.

  • Desirable - GCSEs in English, Maths, and a Science (grade D to E or higher/new equivalent grade 2 or higher).

  • You see yourself Operating processes in the manufacture, production, and packaging of silicones products.

  • You love to provide support and respond to issues by collaborating with your colleagues.

  • You are motivated to learn more about environmental regulations and requirements.

  • Aged 18+

  • For CV's to be considered, must have the qualification with grades, Year of Birth, and current location.

  • You are allowed to work in the United Kingdom.

  • You can speak and write in English fluently.

    Between Dow's Barry site (UK) and Partnering College.

    Apprenticeship duration:

    The program will be for 2 years.
