Footprints works collaboratively with primary schools across Hartlepool to deliver exceptional before and after school care that is innovative, inspiring and above all a safe environment for all in our care. Your role will be to provide activities in a safe, secure and fun environment, providing an outstanding service for busy parents., Career pathway in place for staff succession, leading to more senior & management level positions.
Successful candidates will undergo constant continued professional and personal development and will be expected to attend additional external training to enhance their knowledge.
Application Process:
Short-listed applicants will be asked to attend a two-stage interview process which will involve the delivery of a practical activity for a group of children.
We are dedicated to Safeguarding. All posts are covered by the Childcare Act 2006 and are subject to receipt of a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure for regulated activity and satisfactory reference checks.
Afterschool Assistant
Footprints are looking for someone to assist the delivery of exceptional before and after school care that is innovative, inspiring and above all a safe environment for all in our care.
The setting is available to parents after school, Monday to Friday in term time. Although may extend to holiday if need arises.
Reporting directly to the Director and Afterschool Manager, the Afterschool Assistant will be responsible for:
Assisting the venue lead with planning, preparing, and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents/carers.
Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
Administering first aid when necessary.
Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
Encouraging parental involvement in the club.
Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, schools and childcare and play related agencies.
Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
What we are looking for:
Essential

We run Wraparound provision in primary schools in the Hartlepool area. They are Ofsted registered and provide high quality out of school care for the parents. With this in mind we are looking for an outstanding applicant with experience working with children in a school environment.
This is also a great opportunity for students studying at college within the Hartlepool area to gain some valuable experience working in Primary schools, if your course is linked to the education industry. Schedules can be flexible and work around your studying hours.

· Passion for making learning fun and engaging for each child
· Ability to use a variety of techniques to communicate with both children and adults clearly and successfully
· Strong knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and the wider legislative requirements for working with children, training will be provided if needed.
· Willing to undertake any relevant training including first aid and food and hygiene
· Have high personal expectations and dedication to achieve the best with the children we care for
The successful candidate will need to:
· Have good Literacy and Numeracy skills, able to support children in reading writing and maths as they will be allocated time to continue with their learning during the session.
· Will be able to prepare healthy snacks for the children
· Participate in a range of activities with the children during sessions both inside and outside.
· Be able to assist with the planning of activities, supporting and engaging with children during the sessions.
Essential
· Appropriate Level 3 (or above) qualification (Child Care related)
· Previous experience working as a Nursery Nurse, Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator or similar
· Experience of working within a play-based setting
Desirable:
· Ability to work on own initiative
· Appropriate child protection training
· Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate
. Food Hygiene Certificate, Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds
Provide and facilitate safe and creative play
Good communication skills
Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate leadership skills
DBS or willingness to obtain one
Desirable:
Appropriate Level 3 (or above) qualification in Childcare, but not essential
Experience of working within a play-based setting
Competent in using IT to support play and club administration
Ability to work on own initiative
Appropriate child protection training
Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Food Hygiene Certificate
Driver Licence and can drive, not essential
Job Type: Part-time

Salary: £12.50 for age or negotiable for the right person
Expected hours: 2.45pm - 6pm term time and possible hours during school holidays
